Description

Belt thickeners can be used not only for thickening municipal and industrial sewage sludge. They are also widely used for sludge thickening in various industries. These thickeners are designed to provide high throughput for the removal of liquids from solid and liquid slurries (sludge). They are simple in design, made of stainless or galvanised steel and have a low space footprint. They are versatile and can be adapted to a wide range of sludge treatment methods, reducing the cost and hassle of sewage sludge management.

How it works

The main purpose of a sludge thickener is to reduce the volume of sludge before further sludge treatment steps. These OCM belt thickeners work on the principle of gravity by filtering the sludge to be thickened through a special fabric.

After the sludge is flocculated in the feed pipe, the sludge is smoothly fed onto the filter belt via a feed chute located above the tension shaft. The distribution plate ensures even distribution over the entire working width of the belt, separating most of the liquids and solids. The belt thickeners are equipped with several rows of adjustable ploughs which create channels in the flowing mass, facilitating the drainage of water away from the sludge mass and helping the sludge to thicken.

A slow-moving filter belt transports the sludge to the discharge point, where the thickened sludge is shaken off the belt and into a conveyor. The water separated by flocculation drains off automatically and can be reused for washing. The special fabric belt is cleaned by a washing chamber with flat jet nozzles.

The nozzle with a self-cleaning device collects the washing water separately. The thickened sludge is already ready for recycling using dewatering equipment.
